At approximately 1:45 PM, August 6th, 2014, the Pageland Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire on the corner of Pearl and Maple Streets.

Firefighters arrived to find a two story unoccupied building with smoke coming from an upper story window.

Incident commander Jay Rivers immediately requested a ladder truck and additional man power from High Point Fire District.

Pageland firefighters setup a ground ladder from their engine to access the second story balcony. Firefighters then advanced a hose line up the ladder, across the second story balcony, and into the burning room where they were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

High Point firefighters arrived and set up their ladder truck to allow access to the roof if needed and assisted in searching for and extinguishing any hidden pockets of fire.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was called to investigate the cause of the fire.
