At 1:35 PM on November 29, 2014, High Point Fire District Responded to a report of a grass and structure fire at 409 Sale Barn Lane near Pageland SC. Firefighters arrived to find an unoccupied single wide mobile home being used for storage with heavy fire showing from its center. There was also approximately half an acre of burning grass and brush with fire moving toward a second mobile home and a shop building. Using a brush truck, firefighters stopped the advancing brush fire before it could reach the second mobile home and shop building. Firefighters deployed a hose line from the first arriving fire engine and quickly extinguished the main body of fire in the mobile home. Firefighters remained on scene for an hour digging through the mobile home’s contents to extinguish hot spots. The grass and brush fire was started when fire escaped a barrel being used to burn household garbage. The grass fire advanced under the mobile home, causing it to ignite.
