At 1:40 PM on Thursday December 19th 2013 High Point Fire District responded to a report of a grass fire on Maples Rd. near Pageland. Firefighters arrived to find the back yard of a residence burning with fire beginning to extend into an adjoining field. Using a brush truck, firefighters were able to stop the fire from extending into the field and wet down the entire back yard. An outbuilding on the property sustained minor damage. The fire appears to have started by embers from a burn barrel used to burn household garbage.
