At 09:57 AM on Sunday, December 15, 2013 High Point Fire District responded with three engines and a tanker to a report of a structure fire at 28380 Highway 9. Firefighters arrived to find a single wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames and collapsing. The mobile home was in the process of being demolished when workers accidentally ignited the fire with a cutting torch. The first arriving engine began attacking the fire with its deck gun while firefighters advanced a hose line to finish extinguishing the fire. It took firefighters about an hour using approximately 3500 gallons of water to completely extinguish the fire.
